I am not an expert in any which way on alcohol abuse or alcohol withdrawal suicides. My brother lost his life to alcohol withdrawal two weeks back and since he was living alone we could not reach out to him #postLockdown. So, here's a few things I want to say. 1/4 https://twitter.com/netshrink/status/1250347220513087488
On the opinion that alcohol should be one of the essential service alongside vegetables, medicines etc. For once, I thought this was fake news. Most of us can Live without it. Ergo, NOT an essential commodity.2/4
Most people are now forced to stay home. No matter how much we put out sermons on "spend quality time with family", most families are not perfect. Making alcohol available and forcing people to stay at home will (most probably has) increase number of cases of domestic abuse.3/4
To end this thread, lots of people are better placed than me to offer a solution to this problem. I have an opinion. People who are alcohol dependent should be given medical attention NOT more of alcohol. Please do not leave it as a "problem for another day". 4/4
