Taste Buds

Cat tongue has fewer taste buds than a human has. Cat sense of taste is weak compared to humans. We have 9,000 taste buds while they have only 473. Cats are responsive to four basic tastes like humans-

The four basic tastes: sour, bitter, salt and sweet. However, they don’t taste sweet the way we do. Cat’s response to sweet is much weaker than ours, almost to non-existence. Their most powerful response to food is through sense of smell, not taste.
