I am not sure how many of you are ready for this conversation but we need to all reframe our discussions so that they are not solely centred around identity politics I.e. identity politics is not used to shut down any other discussion.

Unfortunately, identity politics and shutting down conversations has been co opted by the right. Trolls on Twitter are also now hiding behind their identities after subjecting everyone else to the most brutal trolling and insults.

You cannot invoke your identity as a defense for all kinds of reprehensible behaviour. While we are at it, you cannot invoke your mental health too. If you're struggling seek help, if not professional than from your friends and family. Being hateful to others is not the way.

I have been thinking about this since my first podcast with Moiz, where it was alleged that Kami Sid forced herself onto a minor. Since then Moiz has been called transphobic by her friends, anybody who knows @TMItalks knows he's the further thing possible from being transphobic.

However, labelling him transphobic is the easiest way to shut down the conversation, even if it in this case protects an alleged r**ist.

There is merit to deplatforming and shutting down conversations in the cases such as Khalil ur Rahman or hate speech or (cont.)

Even for sexual harassers but unfortunately the frequent use of the nuclear option on Twitter by the hyperwoke crowd means all conversations are simply reduced to cancellation and identity politics.

We are going to continue fighting with each other rather than constructively discussing issues.

And trolls and the right will continue appropriating woke terminology against the left because the overuse of it has reduced it to being a parody of itself.

We should be able to talk about issues, reach out to people who disagree and have conversations, communicate with kindness and empathy.

If we stick to our respective camps throwing molotov cocktails at others, it'll just increase the divide and the issues we champion will remain
