Apologies in advance: I’m going to rant.
In an effort to earn some (any) income at the moment I posted adverts for my books on several Facebook groups that regularly share my work. This is the only time I have posted a direct link to my shop in these groups. (1/5)
And guess what? Every post rejected by admins, who either do not allow advertising or felt my book was outside of their subject (despite regularly sharing my work). So, my question to these power-crazed keyboard jockeys, who have never created anything themselves is this: (2/5)
How do you intend to fill your little FB groups with visual content if you will not allow artists to at least try to earn a living? Are you going to create it yourself? Are you hell. You’ll just continue scraping the web like you do now, racking up 1000’s of followers whilst(3/5)
denying the content creators any return for their efforts. Parasites. Taking what you can, giving nothing in return, whilst churning out endless badly photoshopped “what’s your favourite JP movie” click-bait memes in an effort to give meaning to your vacuous existence. (4/5)
Until one day you find yourself in an arid virtual wasteland, devoid of any decent visual content at all. A wind-blasted desert, populated by the tumbleweed of bad fan-art and cat-memes. There you stand, FB admin, all alone, wondering where the artists went.
