Yes, America should keep pouring money down the drain of a World Health Organization that still can't bring itself to condemn Communist China even as the DAMN WET MARKETS REOPEN.
Those markets were supposed to be closed after the SARS epidemic in the mid-2000s. China violated every relevant WHO regulation with impunity, to this very day. WHO is worse than useless - it's an active danger to world health, as long as it's under the sway of Beijing.
It is grossly irresponsible to fund and legitimize an organization that allows malevolent states like China to flaunt the rules everyone else is supposed to follow. It is irresponsible to give American taxpayer money to organizations that don't meet our standards of transparency.
My preference was to present WHO with a list of non-negotiable reform demands to purge CCP influence and withdraw funding if they refused any of those demands - as I know full well they would have. Trump cut to the chase and pulled the funds first.
I would have argued it was important to make the reform demands first to head off the predictable complaints that pulling American funds was capricious, selfish, inexplicable, etc. but in the end, that's all international media theater. We would have needed to pull the funds.
They say good prosecutors don't ask questions in court unless they already know the answers. I hope that's true of the Republican senators who want to investigate WHO for corruption. If we have intel about Communist influence and funding abuse, it's time to start revealing it.
People keep asking how Communist China took over WHO while giving it a fraction of what America gave in funding. The answer is that China put in the effort to take over. We're the suckers who hand over hundreds of millions of dollars, no questions asked, no standards set.
The CCP sees American bureaucratic inertia and the lazy "if you care about a problem, throw money at it" as an incredible strategic opportunity. They've worked for years to aggressively infiltrate and subvert organizations our political class expects us to fund without question.
Here's the lesson: from the Chinese Communist subversion of WHO If you give away huge piles of money with no strings attached, somebody else will attach the strings.

Unconditional support is not compassionate. It's an invitation to corruption.
It's scandalous that we had to wait until the paradigm-busting outsider President Trump to have a leader who understands those simple truths, but it's clear our globalism-besotted Beltway political establishment was never going to produce a candidate who does.
One of the cherished beliefs of that establishment is that America is uniquely selfish for considering its national interests or making demands in exchange for supporting the "right" international organizations. We're supposed to prove our virtue by paying a globalist tithe.
Not only is that unspeakably irresponsible to American taxpayers - which is one of its attractions, since globalists love to demonstrate that they have no special allegiance or duty to American taxpayers - but as the WHO scandal demonstrates, it's utterly foolish.
By pouring money into international organizations without setting firm conditions or making tough demands, we created a vacuum of influence. We didn't claim the influence our support should have given us, so Communist China and other bad actors just pick it up off the table.
By definition, it's the worst, most selfish, most aggressive nations that step forward to claim the influence we created but refuse to wield. We're not doing anyone any favors by becoming a sugar daddy for international orgs, including the people those orgs are supposed to help.
