1/ Ultimate community. Curious to have a sense of your interest on something. @SheaSerrano has been just collecting and distributing money, no questions asked.
As these $1,200 deposits start hitting bank accounts. There is a wide range of needs under the $75k cap.
As these $1,200 deposits start hitting bank accounts. There is a wide range of needs under the $75k cap.
2/ Example, $75k for someone with affordable rent, no mortgage, no student loans, no children, inherited wealth and or parental safety net is very different than $20k in NYC apartments with two kids and pre-existing ailments due to environmental justice issues, both get $1200.
3/ Now of course the answer to all of these inequities is systemic work, AND I wonder if we might take this moment to acknowledge these inequities in a relatively small way that might help others in a BIG and IMMEDIATE WAY.
4/ Are you someone who received $1,200 and wants to contribute some of that to someone who needs it more than you right now? If so, please like this tweet. Please reply or DM with suggestions about the best way to distribute to those with immediate needs.
5/ The CARES act looks like it will contribute to further wealth inequality in the U.S.. If we blindly accept these checks, then we are also accepting our own benefit from systemic inequalities.
To be clear, I do not expect everyone can give. This is not about guilt. cont...

6/ This is about taking the moment to consider our needs versus the needs of others and decide what a more equitable distribution might be. If there is sufficient interest, I will work with others to create an organized and transparent means for collection and redistribution.

Seems like there is plenty of interest and also plenty of valuable ways to give.
