It doesn't challenge my confidence in their approach to Brexit. I had none. It challenges my confidence in their approach to covid.

"The thinking is that a delay would not solve the fundamental policy problems and that a deal is either possible or not". This is such a bizarre statement.

'Do you really think you can build an extension in a day?'

Yes time has no impact on the fundamental construction problems.

But the broader concern is this: for a while it seemed like covid had cured the government of its silliness and tribalism. This response suggests it has not. And that raises serious questions about their general ability to deal with the crisis.
