I am an American who is currently studying while in Beijing.
While abroad in #China, I want to give some perspective on how #COVID19 is handled here.

First off, I don't think it was handled well initially, and dont think the numbers recorded are accurate.
Since January 23rd my citizen life in #Beijing has become very strict.
I just started my vacation for spring festival.
I heard about how #Ccp quarantined #Wuhan , and were building a hospital. I was mad it got to that point, but at the same time was relieved about the response...
Suddenly everything changed in an instant.
All stores required us to wear masks.
We had temperature checks at every store and at public transport.
I needed an ID to get into my apartment complex, and couldn't travel far.
if I had a fever, I have to immediately go to a hospital
Upon returning to the apartment, I would be self quarantined for a few weeks .
Same thing if I tried leaving Beijing, and then returned.
All the schools were closed and most businesses stayed closed.

So essentially life was halted for a bit
None of my friends wanted to go outside so I was stuck home most the time aside from when I was getting food.

Honestly most of them never left the house at all. We have many food delivery apps. So they just got food delivered to home.
Since everyone is staying home, clearly many people are not working.
Luckily many companies are doing online work.
There's also plenty of jobs for food delivery at this point.
Those who can't work, are getting paid percentages of minimum wage, and have bills lowered/frozen.
All of the stuff happened before February.
This is a terrifying pandemic and honestly I have been scared the past few months.
The sad thing is that I get an outside perspective of this and it makes the situation in the #USA even worse.
Since January I have constantly been seeing the USA saying that " #China is horrible for unleashing this virus into the world"
However once it gets to the States. I see little response from the government, and people just treat #COVID19 like it's just another flu
I see many news outlets talk about how "we were blindsided" and
" #Trump adapted quickly to the virus".
It's beyond frustrating because every step being taken is beyond slow.
I just saw the #CDC recommend masks last week, yet I've been forced to wear masks for almost 3 months
It doesn't help that the media has gotten so bad that people assume everything that isn't 100% bad in #China, is suddenly #CCPLies.

People will say something like
"They aren't doing temperature checks in Beijing" and I immediately get called CCP spy for trying to educate them
It at the point where I honestly don't know when a horrible thing might be done here in #China
I'll be told things I experienced first-hand are actually CCP lies.

There can be lies, but not everything is a lie.
I don't think it was handled well initially, but within the country itself the virus has been handled quite well. even if the actual number of cases and deaths are inaccurate, things seem to be getting back to normal here.
Honestly it gives me hope for the future
