Sunday school was a very important part of my child hood . I loved it - the food , the drummer at praise & worship but most importantly the stories . One story that fascinated me was the one of creation .

A thread
That story has conjured so many questions in my spirit and as an adult I’m starting to see in a new light a lot of what I couldn’t as a kid. I’m just making my observation if you cannot take some time out to understand my perspective pls scroll past this thread .
Now in the story of creation the Bible made me aware that the woman told the serpent at that time when it / he / they approached her about the fruits in the garden , asking if God said that she couldn’t eat of any of the trees in the garden . And she replied no ..
.. he has said that we could eat of all of the trees in the Garden except the one in the midst , neither shall we touch it , lest we die. Now the serpent went ahead to clarify that she wouldn’t die and the reasons for God saying what he said
Which brings me to my question . Did God lie ? So I looked up the definition of a “ lie” and it says
“a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

God told the woman that If she ate the fruit or touched it , she would die .
But she didn’t . Could it be that his statement was a metaphor ? That the “death” could’ve meant something else ? Could it be that Eve lied and told the serpent that ?
If a lie is what we know of it as of today and a completely different scenario happened to the woman
and her man in the Garden after they ate the fruit contrary to what God said I can’t help but ask.. did he lie ?
