Back in 2017, I was ASP (UT) in Mardan when Mashal khan was brutally lynched in Abdul Wali khan University Mardan. I interrogated all the arrested accused including Imran who shot Mashal khan.

This thread contains few of my observations.
1. Mashal was a bright student.
He had a thirst for knowledge. He was a freethinker and used to question inexplicalble phenomena and religious dogmas like every other curious mind but was loud in raising these questions.
