The club's soul restored? By being bought by a sovereign fund run by a man with blood on his hands? Most recently that of a colleague? https://twitter.com/henrywinter/status/1250095734692753409
Over the past decade I've reported on the the very real human rights abuses that take place in the UAE and how they are connected to leadership of Manchester City. That is small beer compared to the moral issues that surround NUFC's potential purchase.
Mike Ashley is a man who represents some of the worst aspects of 21st century capitalism, of that there is no doubt. He has contributed to the impoverishment of the nation. But compared to abuses that take place in the Gulf, he is small fry.
If this purchase goes through, what next? Why not greenlight the purchase of West Ham by Kim Jong Un? Perhaps Los Zetas can make a cheeky bid for Norwich? Why doesn't Khamenei aim for value & have a crack at resurrecting Bury?
