To be absolutely clear (and to save you clicking the link), the numbers here are completely wrong. @KennyMacDonald1 has failed to understand that all payments paid to clubs so far have been based on the amount for finishing bottom in their league. https://twitter.com/scotsunsport/status/1250170924554489856?s=19
For example, so far 4th placed Aberdeen have been paid exactly the same amount as bottom club Hearts. Last year 12th got £1.25m. Both Aberdeen and Hearts will have been paid some percentage of that through the season. That means Aberdeen will be due loads and Hearts very little.
Say the percentage paid so far is 80%, both Aberdeen and Hearts will have been given £1m. Hearts (who are bottom) will only be due another £250k, while Aberdeen would be due £812k to take them up to the £1.812m due for 4th place. https://spfl.co.uk/news/spfl-prize-pot-reaches-25m
I've deliberately picked Aberdeen, because Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell are all guaranteed top 6 and therefore got a bigger payment last month to reflect that.
Rather than admitting his mistake, @KennyMacDonald1 has now blocked me on Twitter. That does tend to be how the Sun deals with criticism.
Typically, I have made a small mistake myself here - 12th in the Prem got £1.125m last season, not £1.25m. However, the rest of the argument holds.
Here is my *estimate* of what clubs might still be due, based on the total prize pot being the same as last year (£25m), and a guess that 80% of the minimum placing has been paid already.
This tallies up very well with Inverness' claim that they would be due £330k, but less so with Forfar's suggestion that they were only due about £3k. Perhaps a little more has already been paid to lower league clubs (or perhaps one of them was wrong).
