1/4: I have been thinking about the often-false dichotomy between privacy and safety, and in particular how setting those two up as opposites pushes people into sacrificing privacy when they didn& #39;t have to. Consider for example this software from Aus: https://sondersafe.com/how/ ">https://sondersafe.com/how/"...
2/4: On the one hand, it& #39;s voluntary (good), and its privacy policy says it doesn& #39;t share information your without consent (good, assuming we have the same understanding of what consent is).
3/4: But the marketing is predicated on the assumption that young women must earn their safety by surrendering their intended and current location to a protector. This seems a false bargain - young women deserve to be safe *and* retain privacy and control.

4/4: So how can we educate all people, when presented with two apparent options (especially one that pits safety against privacy) to step back and demand a third alternative that maintains our safety without sacrificing our privacy? @bipr @chrisculnane @kobotic @thkukutai
