Expansion Series - Hobart Mariners

I had a lot of requests to do the Hunter Mariners. I don't believe that the Hunter is a viable option for an expansion team, so I've decided to relocate them to Hobart. The Mariner moniker is perfect for the city of Hobart.

I felt it was important to move away from the original yellow and blue colours to avoid an obvious clash with the Central Coast Mariners, so I decided to go with the Tasmania Rugby League colours of Green and Black!

I did a lot of experimenting with anchors and ships, but felt that it was better to keep the Helm that featured in the Hunter Mariners logo. I adapted it into a modern style crest that features the Hobart Mariners Rugby League FC word mark and football.

Hobart is seemingly not on the cards as an immediate expansion option, but it would definitely make sense to capitalise in Tasmania before the AFL does. Would you like to see a Hobart team in the NRL one day?
