taking myself back to the scene when jasper was corrupted..... it's very unlikely that steven would have been able to help even if she had let him. the fact she keeps lashing out isn't a plot excuse to take her out, it's an important character moment for her
she refuses steven's help, not just because they're enemies but because she is unable to accept that she could NEED help. she sees steven's outstretched hand and realizes, with horror, that she has become someone who others take pity on, and that means she's beyond saving
she can't accept sympathy because she has no concept of it. if "rose" is trying to "recruit" her, that means she's broken beyond repair by homeworld's standards, like all the other gems rose took in
earlier in the episode she says that everyone gets what they deserve, and in this moment you can see she's applying it to herself too
and then when she's uncorrupted and set free, the whole world has changed. there's no more need for her to fight, which was the only thing she found purpose in, but she ALSO isn't punished for essentially going rogue and attempting to murder steven multiple times
