I refuse to be the only one who who didn't know about the SANDF special forces called the Recces.
In case you didn't know they are SA's principal special operations unit and they specialise in long-range combat
Now this is interesting: Only about 8% of recruits who undergo the special forces training pass the course (They highly trained...you won't survive if you are a sissy)
They carried out a number of combat operations during the Rhodesian Bush War, The South African Border War and the Mozambican Civil War
Their combat operations is secretive and they are seldom photographed (They cover their face so they can't be recognised)
They are based in Langebaan in the Western Cape and Phalaborwa in Limpopo Province (I knew there was something special about Phalaborwa... I knew it)
They were deployed in many local hot spots in the late 70s and 80s particularly in Angola and in Namibia fighting the the armed wing guerrillas
They carried the mission successfully against the Seleka rebels in CAR post 1994. No special special force was killed in the operation
An operator of the SA special force made the 7th longest recorded sniper kill in history in Aug' 2013 with a confirmed distance of 2125M (Making it the best in world... Currently at number 7)
Put some respect on our soldiers. They are the best in world and they are expertly trained (No doubt)
