I don’t object to the likes of Simon Thornley’s views getting coverage. That’s the nature of living in a free and democratic society. But the extent to which fringe figures can gain such blanket media coverage makes you wonder.

Case in point, having seen Thornley lead @NewshubNZ at 6 tonight, I just had Newshub push this to my mobile.

We need media to provide some sense of how credible these views are and how widely supported they are by their peers - not just stoking controversy to harvest clicks.
