Re. #polytheism: I know of Śaiva authors explaining how Śiva (īśvara) is the only real God and all others are just His assistents. I know of Vaiṣṇava authors explaining how Viṣṇu is the only real God and all others are just aspects of Him and/or His servants. 1/3
But can you help me with a *theological* defense of polytheism? I am not looking for Purāṇic texts describing the interactions of various deities, I would like to have a theologically engaged discussion of the Divine explaining that it is inherently plural and that this 2/3
plurality cannot be reduced to unity. I am not aware of anything like that in Sanskrit sources, but perhaps readers and colleagues from today's India can help? 3/3 #SanskritTheology
