why the bts collecting community is the most toxic environment ive ever been in: a thread

1. People care more about merch and clout than anything else
this is the biggest issue in the community. people are more concerned about having the biggest collection and having the most followers or pcs or signed albums. its to the point where if anything happens to get between

them and their merch they go absolutely crazy. im sorry but if you care more about the fact that someone has merch you purchased rather than someones own mental health or life outside of collecting you NEED to take a step back and realize what that sounds like. you are putting an
inanimate object as something more important that a humans life. that isnt okay? bts is a band, their albums will be there but that person may not be there forever. yes you may not have the album at the exact same time every other person does but that isnt important. bts do not
care about if you have the biggest collection in the world and to be completely honest if they saw the absolute garbage that went down in the collecting community theyd be extremely disappointed in so many people.
2. People are extremely two faced and rude in this community
This shouldnt really come as a shock to anybody but its a really common thing for people to “be friends” with you because you can get them rare merch. then when you cant do that for them anymore they turn around and

shit on you for some reason. you LITERALLY cant trust people in this community because you never know if someone is gonna turn around and talk shit about you to other people or start major drama. its to the point where i dont want to trade or talk to people on facebook because
who knows. the worst part about this is the victim complex a lot of these people have too. when you call them out they turn around and act like youre the one bullying them when they were the ones who started this drama. its like a lot of these people are in middle school again.

but theyre a fan of the attention they get from having xx signed albums and xxxx photocards etc. 90% of the reason why i slowed down on collecting the way i did is because i felt myself going down this hole. i didnt care about bts i just cared about when i was gonna get my next
dvd or my next photocard. i had to take a step back and realize in the end im here to support bts and solely to support them. thats why i collect my merch is to give my money to them, not to give it to resellers who hike up the price to make a profit.
i feel like i have to keep saying this lol but we are here for bts and not the merch they release. thats just a plus. you are NOT a better fan just because you collect bts merch.
i joined the collecting community years ago and i used to love it so much. now its just competitive and people dont make it fun anymore. i just rlly hope it can go back to the way it was before but this is something that needed to be said.
and /btw/ i am not saying that i’m a saint bc i have done things similar to people in this thread~ but i’m aware and actively trying to fix this
