So I just read the viral Minmie tweet and the article below it, depicting an icky urban legend of some sort regarding the gyaru character Minmie. The article ( https://bacaterus.com/misteri-kartun-minmie/) wrote about gruesome domestic homicide that may or may not be the origins of Minmie. +
The article also said that Minmie is a whole of a mystery because nobody knows the creator. If you search for it, you'll find nothing, it said. Well, since I love both the occult, urban legends, and searching things, I did a short digging to clarify the truth of the claims.
I didn't get any hits, only online shops selling bags and other such trinkets. So, I tried another approach: search in Japanese, since the style is reminiscent. A hit, but only one: an old, obscure mixi (Japanese blogging service) community made in 2007, with only one post.
The community detail ( https://mixi.jp/view_community.pl?id=1874981) said, roughly (albeit said in a different way), "Creating a storm!? Minmie, super popular in Thailand! Let's make it popular in Japan!"

Note that there's also the website in there! So I clicked, hoping for actual info...
Unfortunately, the website is dead.

But at least we know Minmie is most likely from Thailand, so I refined the search to: "Minmie thailand".
The first page is filled with online shops as usual, so I went to the second page, and found a blog entry with both keywords, posted on 2015! ( https://www.kompasiana.com/iwokabq/5528b81af17e610a7c8b45d4/seruseruan-dan-nyasarnyasaran-di-bangkok)

The blog author's going to Minmie Factory! So they are from Thailand.
At this point my search seems to have ended in a success, but I feel compelled to know more. So I skimmed through the post, and sadly, in the end they didn't manage to go to the factory because of time, but they did talk to the staff who's supposed to bring them there.
The blog didn't say anything else about the meet. So I looked it up again and found ( https://www.topthaibrandslaos.com/post/ss-product-design-c49):
Now I have the address and the email, also the dead website. So I searched for the address in Maps, and it's a hit! Sadly I'm not sure they're still in business (guess not since the website is dead). Well, guess that's the end of our search.
Does anybody read this thread till the end?

Because just kidding, if you search "minmie in Google, the first hit would be the official Minmie Facebook page, and it'd have every info you'd ever need for your nostalgic and research needs.
The moral of the story is, always research an article you read, so you don't waste time for sth that's clearly wrong and debunked already. But I don't know when the original article's written - it's edited 2020, though.

Oh, I'm not sure about the wife murder case. Could be real?
