The social dynamics have changed largely in Kashmir. The greest community (peasantry class) has seen a lot of mobility, especially due to the Land Reforms. Just a few decades back you could have seen that peasantry lived in utterly miserable conditions.
Today peasantry can see eye to eye with the upper-most-castes because of what they achieved just in these decades.
But the community that has not seen mobility on the same scale is naangaar community (artisanal class) because they hardly got any benefits from the Land Reforms.

Most of peasantry class has left farming and joined various other professions whereas a larger number of artisanal class is still involved in their traditional professions. This brings us to the stark socio-economic distinction that has always existed in our society.
