I dont think KD thought he'd be more admired than Steph. I think he knew he was appreciated by a ton of GS fans. I think he was hoping for a MIA Bron "this is your team but it will always be (Steph's/Wade) city" dynamic. And lots of GS fans werent on board w/even giving him that

And KD was never really worshipped by GS fans bc he wasn't their savior. They didn't *need* him. They built something special without him. And to lots of fans, KD getting the bulk of praise during his time there felt like it was diminishing the special thing they built w/o him

Like I said,I think KD knew lots of GS fans appreciated him.But I think he wanted to be revered. And honestly,he put in the work where he shouldve been. But he found out GS fans only had it in them to revere the 6'3 dude they drafted who took em from 25 to 73 wins. Not the 7ft FA
