Since I am sad, I am thinking of a more sad concept where Joonie is a tree nymph who doesn't exactly need food to live (since he lives off the sun), but he loses his energy one day and lays on the ground and doesn't get up.

He doesn't grow and sprout beautiful flowers in his hair like the others. His back is creaseless since he doesn't experience life to give him the "roots and branches" that tattoo themselves on his skin. He grows a little thin and faded, his vibrant green skin a dule olive.

He doesn't know what happened. He doesn't know why he lacks energy when all he needs is the sun, but even the suns rays feel like drills of rain that drown him.

He is sad, watching the other nymphs turn into beautiful trees that bring life to everyone around them.

The people that visit always look at them, admire them, praise them. Joonie wants that. Joonie wants to make people happy too, but he can't. Not when he is so sad himself.

No one wants a withered tree who can barely sprout a single leaf.

But there is one.

There is one who is interested in the small nymph who struggles to keep itself from sinking into the dirt and never returning. Their smile is like magic and Joonie thinks /he must be mistaken/.

He must be looking at some other tree, surely, but he is not.

He likes Namjoon, dull colors and faded life and all. He tells him that, the others may have bloomed faster, but there is no reason why he still can't.

Not everyone blooms at the same time and the last ones are always the prettiest, taking their time to build themselves up before showing themselves to the world.

And Namjoon finds peace in those words. He wants to believe them.

He wants to follow the boy, leave trails of happiness whenever he steps, but how can he do that when he's so plastered on the ground, mold growing on his fingers.

He has to get up.

He /has/ to.

He has to for him.

So he does.
