One of the things I like most about #DragonAge is the way it treats myth and legend and propaganda and history.

SPOILERS (for a game series that began in 2009, yes)
One small example...

In Dragon Age: Origins, following your origin story, you see the infamous Battle of Ostagar from the perspective of the two most junior members of the Grey Wardens: yourself and Alistair.
This is Alistair. He’s a bit like puppy, and will tell you he was raised by dogs.

*Alistair saying: “I get it. I get it. Just so you know, if the king ever asks me to put on a dress and dance the remigold, I’m drawing the line. Darkspawn or no.”
You battle your way through darkspawn* what was supposed to be a protected zone to send a signal that tells the main body of the army to attack.

*blighted creatures who serve the Archdemon, aka The Enemy
(Please hold your discussion of whether or not this is a sound tactical decision. Who are we to gainsay Loghain Mac Tir, the Hero of River Dane?)

Now this battle is a historical fact of the series. It happened. You were there, were injured, and almost died...saved by a creature of legend, who plays a pivotal role in all three games.
But this thread is not large enough to discuss Flemeth.
No, this thread is about the Battle of Ostagar. Immediately following the battle—involving the death of the king and the rest of the Grey Wardens—you learn that Loghain has placed the blame for the death of the king on the heads of the Wardens.
He has also declared himself regent, king in all but name, and placed a bounty on the heads of any surviving Grey Wardens.

Oh.

That’s you. This may get in the way of saving the world.
