There are MANY reasons why churches in America are largely racially homogenous.

But, the MAIN reason is that "white Christians" as a group signal with their politics and social ethics that their primary focus is power posing as orthodoxy (legalism) and patriotism (nationalism).

Moreover, church as a social institution represents something different for each demographic group. Church is seen as shelter or hospital or a family. How can church be a refuge if its also shrouded with the same systems of marginalization, bias, and injustice as the world?

This temptation to dominate is innate to fallen human experience. But, Christianity in image alone or Christianity as a mask within America offers a numbing of conscience that allows for domination under the guise of "worldview". Its ripe with obvious contradictions to outsiders

This is why people who claim to be upholding purity of the faith can pledge allegiance to slaveholders and segregationists and truly be clueless in discerning the hyprocrisy or problem. Defending them even today. Homogeneity/ gatekeeping ensures the persistence of the blindspots.

Listen. When a church will quote a racist slaveholder from the pulpit as a theological and orthopraxis role model and yet go on a bizarre tangent about the moral decay of any present day political party...profound blindspot and hypocrisy. Don't need spiritual eyes to see this.

Anyway, goodnight. Back to non-social media writing. Lets check on your neighbors, elders, and folks who live alone. A handwritten letter, an old picture, a corny joke...goes a long way. Pray for our enemies and friends- humanize everybody.
