That plea to teachers from the PM was straight up political theatre. Teachers aren't the ones who make the call if schools stay open, so that plea was for the public.

Presumably dipping his toes into the murky IPA waters of calling to sacrifice lives on the alter of the economy.
And throwing in mention of 'the most vulnerable' - those families who cant afford or access internet or tech required to make the move to online schooling - if govt gave a fuck about them they'd have funded public schools and made internet more affordable long before this crisis.
But this is an issue that needs addressing, as is the issue of essential workers with kids and no suitable arrangements for childcare/education. But the answer isn't a plea to teachers to reopen schools en masse, it's for govt to govern and find a solution that won't kill people.
