You all know me. You know how I try to encourage love, forgiveness, and community. You know I would never publicly distance myself from someone unless there was good reason. Please keep that in mind as you read what follows.
I have been in touch with Team Piñata for years. Once I happily called them friends. I trusted them. I held confidence with them. But the closer I got the more I noticed that stories they told didn't add up. I found myself unable to trust the things they told me.
I privately broke off our friendship and decided to be nothing more than professional acquaintances. That changed recently. I thought that speaking at the event in November was a good reason to try to reconnect. Maybe I'd judged them too harshly in the past.
Then allegations of Team Piñata drawing fetish CP were presented. They insisted these allegations were false. That the sneeze "fetish" was cute, not sexy. No harm was meant. And I trusted them. Then more graphic images surfaced. And blog posts. And forum discussions.
Every day there was a new story about why the art was misconstrued and why they weren't at fault. My faith in them began to shake. I decided to look into the issue directly on my own.
I can say with full confidence that Nan from Team Piñata lied to me and their followers about their past. Their art of underaged characters is irrefutably sexual, some GRAPHICALLY so. I confronted them one last time and demanded the truth. They seemed ready to be honest.
But by the end of the day there was a new excuse, a new story, a new way to dodge responsibility. I can't stand lying on it's own, but these kind of lies are dangerous. Saying something ISN'T sexual when it IS is the behavior of a predator. THIS IS PREDATORY BEHAVIOR.
I debated long and hard about posting this at all, but I've committed to keeping this community safe as best I can. I was fooled by them more than once. I don't want you all to be fooled as well. Stay safe. Love each other.
