Found my copy of Five Shall Be One! I bought this shortly after it came out in 1991. #dnd
This is a rather special adventure for me. You see, when I first got into a proper Advanced Dungeons & Dragons campaign, it was set in Greyhawk. And my brother played a character from the lands of the Frost Barbarians. #dnd
By the time this adventure came out, that campaign was mostly dead, but I ran this for some other friends - and my brother's barbarian, Brunak. #dnd
Five Shall Be One is one of my favourite adventures set in Greyhawk. It makes great use of lore, and really feels like something that happens in the land (rather than a dungeon that could actually be anywhere). The barbarians are trying to free their god! It's wonderful! #dnd
Unfortunately, all of this turns out to not go the way the barbarians planned - and sets of a chain of events that puts the continent at war. I'm not so fond of what happens after, but in this adventure, things are brilliant. #dnd
One of the effects of running this adventure is that, in my personal version of Greyhawk, my brother's character recovered the swords and was crowned King of the Frost Barbarians. King Brunak still rules there. #dnd
I set the AD&D campaign I ran from 2012-14 up in those lands and yes, Brunak was still king. Older, certainly, but present. #dnd
I'd forgotten some of the cool stuff in this adventure. Here's part of the poster map! #dnd
Here's the map that @MTBlack2567 was showing off. I was getting confused about where it was (not in the booklet) - it's on the inside of the cover. Which, like many adventures in those days, comes off and works as a DM screen. #dnd
And here's the lovely excerpt from the great map of Greyhawk showing the lands of the barbarians (and some other wonderful kingdoms). #dnd
Many thanks to @dreamwisp for reminding me about this adventure - it's one of the tremendously important ones to my personal history with Dungeons & Dragons. #dnd
