1/ Tonight, the band @Phish is forwarding proceeds from today's #WaterwheelFoundation donations towards @HungerFreeUSA. Here's why I donated, and why I'm hoping my friends will, too.... (to be continued)
2/ The charity has received praise over the years for its approach toward ending hunger in this country -- from supporting local/regional food banks, to encouraging people to sign up for WIC benefits, to advocating for anti-hunger policies.
3/ But as much as I love #Phish, or anyone who recommends a great charitable org, I don't just take their word for it. I do a bit of research.
4/ Charity Navigator has given Hunger Free America high ratings for many years. Although this year their #CharityNavigator financial ratings have slipped just a bit, they have many years of nearly perfect 4-star ratings.
5/ In this thread, I'll even share some screen shots of detailed information, so you can make your own decision. But know that I've worked in nonprofit/higher ed fundraising for over a decade, and I like what I see.
