THREAD: @GovWhitmer and I have received tens of thousands of calls and messages to our office during this crisis. Our team does a tremendous job responding to each one, but today I took a few calls to help out. Here’s a recap of those conversations https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👇🏾" title="Down pointing backhand index (medium dark skin tone)" aria-label="Emoji: Down pointing backhand index (medium dark skin tone)"> (1/6)
The first call was to Larry. He reached out about his lawn care service. We talked for a while about this and other issues, but at the end of the conversation Larry said “the grass can grow.” We both agreed that the grass will still look good when this crisis is over. (2/6)
The next call was to Brandi. I wasn’t able to reach her, but left a voicemail anyway. I found out after the fact when she tweeted at me (yes, your elected officials read their Twitter) that Brandi was on a Zoom call with her colleagues at the public school where she works. (3/6)
I spoke with JoAnne. When I called her, she was in the grocery store picking up a few items. She’s spent her career in law enforcement to keep Michiganders safe. She called to simply say that she supports @GovWhitmer and I, and that one phone call made my day. (4/6)
Finally, I connected with Rick. He was concerned about the misinformation that has been spread about our efforts to keep people safe during this crisis. We both agreed that these are tough times, but we will get through it if we focus on our connection as Michiganders. (5/6)
I made this thread for two reasons: (1) our state is full of incredible people and (2) @GovWhitmer and I are listening to you. We will overcome this crisis if we #StandTALL to support each other. (end)
