Will this opinion get me cancelled? Screw it.

I don't think, for example, the "native" Irish should be able to tell the decedents of British settlers in the north to exile themselves to Britain.

And I think the same is true everywhere.
I've seen a number of anarchists (all white settlers by the way) claim that if they choose to, indigenous people should have the veto power to make the decedents of settlers move away and emigrate to the country their ancestors came from.
As well as being wildly impractical - the non-indigenous population of the US is over 300 million - consider that so many have mixed heritage and have no single country to "return" to.
Let me be very clear ...

This view is NOT AT ALL representative of any indigenous movements (that I'm aware of). It seems almost like a white supremacist's scaremongering about what indigenous movements want.

It mostly seems to come from white settlers engaging in ...
... a kind of performative self-flagellation to make themselves feel less guilty about having been born settlers.

Not that they should feel guilt.

No one is responsible for the circumstances of their birth. Only what they do with whatever advantages they were born with.
But also consider this ...

If you're white, and saying anyone who's non-indigenous who's commanded to exile themselves by indigenous people should do so ...

... has it seriously not occurred to you how unfathomably racist this position is to everybody else?
It's effectively white settlers telling every black person, Asian person, middle-eastern person, etc that they can be ethnically cleansed from where they were born and grew up.

That they can be ethnically cleansed if the right ethnic group is doing it.
Maybe it's not such a big deal to middle-class white Americans to imagine being told to pack up and relocate to Europe

I imagine it's a bigger deal to, say, working-class black or Asian people to be told they have to uproot their whole lives and move somewhere theyve never been
It's the kind of cringy behavior from white US Americans where they try so hard to be anti-racist they wind up being super-racist.

Controversial or not, I believe ethnic cleansing is wrong no matter who's doing it.
