I slept on the couch last night because my daughter was crying and crying and she fell asleep in my bed clutching her mom. She was crying because she misses dance practice, her friends and school. Here's what I told her before she fell asleep, and what I've been telling myself.
I told her she's a hero. It's hard to miss the experiences we're used to, but by staying home and making these sacrifices, she's making sure Nanas and Papas like hers aren't getting sick and dying.
And if we all do this, the sooner this will be over and we can go back to birthday parties and dance practices and recess games and singalongs in class.
