I have seen many stories on Rwanda's Covid-19 response. Some being the killing of all the patients, some being under reporting and some being over reporting to get financial aid.

Out of abundance and caution, i went for the test. I had no major symptoms just a congested nose.
The following day, hell broke loose and was confirmed Covid-19 case number two.

The following days, many people questioned Rwanda's capacity to respond to the pandemic.

And some went on with articles that Covid-19 patients in Rwanda had killed by Kagame.
Sitting in my isolation room, I wondered why I didn't get to know of my execution!

Back to the story;

From the moment my results came out positive, Minisante was all hands on to support me.

Within a few hours, All my contacts had been traced and communicated to.
You will never know the work put in by different people to protect everyone in this country.

We do take for granted the health insurance scheme. When I went for the test I never had questions on who would pay the bill, a question many people don't have the privilege to ignore.
For 22 days; janitors, nutritionists, nurses, laboratory technician, doctors and security teams were there for us 24/7

Ask me about the security teams. From my experience, treatment centers for such highly infections diseases have been attacked in many countries,
Many patients and health care professionals have lost their lives in the barbaric attacks

This wasn't the case for us.

We enjoyed full night sleeps knowing our security and safety was guaranteed.
Back to my contacts;

With in hours, all my contacts had been briefed and most of them isolated from the public in a professional manner - to keep you safe
The 22 days period;

I noticed those who prayed for us, those who sent books to read and those who wanted to know our our location and indentities so that they can avoid us.

I don't remember those who stigmatized us but only those who were there for us!
22 days later, discharge day;

I got discharged with other two patients. After the rigorous discharge procedures, a foreign patient asked how much his bill was going to be?
"NOTHING" the most professional doctor replied.

This is a rare sound you will ever hear, in most cases you will hear the sound of a printer and a nice voice "only $XXX payable on this accoun sir"
I can't thank enough all the people who have spent sleepless nights ensuring everyone in this country is safe from this pandemic
On the 'stay home advisory'

I was in a complete shock when I started doing my contact tracing with officials

I couldn't believe I had met so many people in a short period of time.

By the way, this is for my relatives and friends not you strangers that i love but don't know.
The lovely strangers we met at the bank, markets, supermarkets, night life places, coffee shops etc.

Please stay at home, it's the best thing you can do.
I have seen many question the recoveries we have made as a country

What they don't know is the daily work of janitors, nurses, nutritionists, doctors and security personnel in ensuring we beat the pandemic as a country.
They will only be amazed on how Rwanda mobilised all the little resources we had against the common enemy, Covid-19.
Waking up to this view everyday;

Why would it be had to flog Covid-19

Great location choice.
