Favorite figure skating dresses ever: a thread.

#김연아 Yuna Kim’s Adios Nonino (Ahn Gyu-Mi).
Elegance. I just love the contrast between the neat design of the dress’s and the intricate pattern of the embellishments. The deep back cut also reminding of some tango dresses.

#김연아 Yuna Kim’s Kiss of the Vampire (Ahn Gyu-Mi).
One of, if not the best usage of crystals in a figure skating costume ever. I feel like one of its merits is also the combination of the relatively dark concept with Yuna’s timeless class.

#浅田真央 Mao Asada’s Ritual Fire Dance (Milena Bobkova).

“In the short, I’m like a black bird, a mysterious one”.

For me this is simply what a figure skating dress should be, perfectly able to emulate what the skater is trying to potray, while being absolutely iconic.

#樋口新葉 Wakaba Higuchi’s Energia (Satomi Ito).
I adore the way queen Satomi decided to go for the flourishing matt crystals, it gives off a really fresh and new vibe that fits well with the genre of the song.

#紀平梨花 Rika Kihira’s International Angel of Peace (Satomi Ito).
Magnificent. I really like how it brings to reality the idea of the Angel warrior, using the golden embellishments to recreate the tridimensional idea of an armor.

#鈴木明子 Akiko Suzuki’s O (Shizuko Orihara).

A great dress for a great program. Akiko never wore a less-than-absolutely-beautiful costume throughout her entire career (she still holds the title for my favorite Kill Bill and POTO dresses EVER), but her “O” one really is special.
