This thread, although for students, also works for people who are serious about their personal development.
This thread, although for students, also works for people who are serious about their personal development.
This, just like all the thread I& #39;ve done before is another sure banker that& #39;s guaranteed to work if you follow it well.
Now, let& #39;s go!
Now, let& #39;s go!
Building skills is easy when you know what you want to do with your career, so the first thing you should do is to understand what you want to do and to do understand what you want for your career, you should examine the various sectors in it. Here& #39;s what I mean;
Let& #39;s say you& #39;re a Biochemistry student, the sectors in your discipline that you& #39;ll probably be looking at are; Quality Control/Assurance, Medical Sales Representative, Research, Biochemical production etc.
This example applies to every other discipline there is.

The next thing is to examine each sector based on your strength, desire, academic abilities and advice.
When you do this, you may find that you will enjoy working in a sector over the other or you may be undecided, that& #39;s still okay....

The next thing you& #39;re to do are like strategic plans, the type you& #39;ll make when you want to win a war or the type a football coach will make for his team to win a match. You should start like this;
STEP 1
A. Set up job alerts for the roles you& #39;ll like to work in. Remember that you& #39;ve done a search of the sectors under your discipline ? If you& #39;ve chosen a particular sector to build a career in, set up job alerts for roles under that sector. If you& #39;ve not decided on a sector,

set up job alerts across all the sectors still.
1b. Search through job adverts of the roles you& #39;ve chosen and save them. Don& #39;t do anything, just copy and paste them and save them where you& #39;ll never lose it.
This is where it gets interesting!

STEP 2
Do 1 above for a month or two.
Just keep repeating the process in 1 for a month or two. Collect the job alerts, copy and paste them.
The goal here is to collect as many job alerts as possible.
Remember this;

Remember this;
YOU& #39;RE NOT JUST COLLECTING JOB ALERTS, YOU& #39;RE COLLECTING JOB ALERTS OF YOUR CHOICE SECTOR/JOB ROLE FROM YOUR DREAM FIRM FOR YOUR DREAM CAREER.
STEP 3
Look through the job adverts you& #39;ve collected, go to the job requirements parts, copy the part that mentioned the skills needed for the role and paste it under your document reader.
Do this for all the job alerts you& #39;ve collected,

...copy and paste the requirements section into one document page.
Now look through this page, from top to bottom, what do you see ? What you& #39;ll see are skills! Skills employers in your sector are looking for! But that& #39;s not all.

STEP 4
You should know the prominent skills that employers are looking for right ? Now how will you do that ?
Copy all the texts in that single document page that you& #39;ve made, then open a word cloud generator, paste the texts there. Why are you doing this ?

You& #39;re doing this because you want to know the skill(s) employers love to ask for the most. Remember the job adverts are from DIFFERENT recruiters in the SAME sector ? So, you want to know the skills in high demand.
Again;
Again;
Copy the texts from the document page you& #39;ve created and paste on the word cloud generator, you& #39;ll find what you& #39;re looking for.
Now, I know what you need now, a word cloud generator right ?
You can use;

there are many other word cloud generators online, but any of those two will do the job.
Now that you& #39;ve generated a word cloud, what you& #39;ll see is the skill(s) that frequents the most.
then you should do this;

STEP 5.
Write down the major skills you& #39;ve seen, those are the skills employers are asking for the most, hey listen, this doesn& #39;t mean other skills are not important, it simply means, you& #39;ll prioritize, when building them.

You& #39;ll find that employers will ask for hard skills and soft skills. What does this even mean ?
That& #39;s another class we& #39;ll have later but I& #39;ll explain briefly here;
Hard Skills are teachable, practical skills, you learn them in school, trainings and all....

Soft skills on the other hand are traits or personal skills, very important too, they are even slightly difficult to learn over hard skills.
Let& #39;s talk about the biochemistry students we mentioned in the beginning of this thread.
The hard skills that student may learn are;

There& #39;s a high chance that, you& #39;re being taught the required hard skills in school. So, for that section, all you may need to do is pay more attention in class! But, we all know how the Nigerian education system is...
