Had a conversation with a young scout about multiple players past & present. He made a couple of statements referencing his belief in players but stated he didn’t write evaluations because he thought the players were either wanted to or needed to go to college.

I told him he was hurting his own developing by attempting to ride the fence. 1st off signability has NOTHING to do with OFP. 2ndly explained that it is his responsibility to identify talent. That’s done through evaluation. That’s when the player history begins.

Through further dialogue I came to the conclusion that HE IS SCARED. He wants to be RIGHT. I went on to explain that it’s awfully difficult to be RIGHT, if you’ve NEVER been WRONG. You create YOUR OWN DATABASE based on your history of rights & wrongs.
