I have something to say ...

This is an email we received from a viewer yesterday after a segment we did on the racial health disparities that have become evident in #COVID19. #WIS10 (1/6)
Typically, these messages don’t bother me, because 1) they are not the norm and 2) it’s so far off base, part of me feels it doesn’t even deserve a response.

However, there’s too much at stake right now to let this slide. (2/6)
Dr. Anthony Fauci says the coronavirus is “shining a bright light” on “unacceptable” health disparities for African Americans. (3/6)
Fauci goes on to say death rates and intensive-care intubations are higher among African Americans because of a greater prevalence of “underlying medical conditions - like diabetes, hypertension, obesity & asthma.” (4/6)
We should all care about that for many reasons, most importantly to stop the spread and save lives. (5/6)
I share all of that to say, we’re going to talk about the racial disparities again tomorrow.

SC DHEC’s Dr. Linda Bell will be our guest tomorrow morning at 9am on WIS TODAY. (6/6)
