Four examples of using increasingly negative space to create positive forms—aka how to draw smarter, not more
Using big negatives is a really useful for when you don't have the references you need or time to draw much detail. Just be careful of "holes" of flat black. Go with deep almost-blacks instead. And establish enough contrast so they integrate in the drawing.
Also it doesn't have to be black. You can drop out other colors the same way. The idea is to suggest form is there with minimal detail. Anyway 💛
