If you want to hear about a silver lining, read this thread. If you think pointing out positives in a time like this makes light of the gravity of the situation, then flick your thumb and read elsewhere.
I thought we were going to see a lot more cases of postpartum depression. But I’m not. In fact I haven’t seen any cases during this pandemic. And it’s not for lack of looking for them.
I think this proves social isolation of having a new baby is a huge factor in that disease. Normally, women are recovering and do not want to expose their newborn to the public. So they stay home while their partner and other family continue living their normal lives.
And now, they are partners and their household members are staying home all the time or most of the time. And everyone else in their support circle is more available than usual for texting, phone calls, and kind gestures
Hopefully someone smarter than I can use the information from this trend to create recommendations and strategies to help reduce the cases in the future
But for now, I am happy that this is one less thing to worry about for people who are already stressed and worried about health, their finances, etc.
