If Dell Loy Hansen doesn’t understand why people would be upset about #RSL employees furloughed, how about thi: He has consistently and constantly injected himself into the club.

Remember Dell Loy celebrating and hoisting the trophy? Banging on that drum? DLHVision?

If Dell Loy wants the acclaim when good things happen, and if he wants praise when he invests infrastructure into the club, he has to be prepared for backlash when he cuts employees with no promise of return.

The million-dollar dime? The $4m dollar dollar? That’s just icing on the cake. If he wants to be a man fans love, he has to do right by the people the fans interact with regularly.

Oh, sure, the players are being paid. But they’re being paid by MLS. DLH deserves none of the credit for that. Remember, single-entity exists.

So if he doesn’t want to be called out for furloughs, he has three options.

1) Sell the club
2) Pay his staff
3) Stop making RSL about him. Step down as president of the organization.
