This is why I’m an advocate for women to be in the tech industry.

There. is .money .to .be .made.
Also guys you don’t need to go university and study anything computer related. I landed my grad job in tech with a degree in Neuroscience
Hardly any Black women in technology and didn’t even know some roles existed.

These roles are paying £30-45k at entry level ! ENTRY
Anyway thread tomorrow lezzz gooooo
Okay guys so thread of how to get Into tech coming up in 15 mins 🥳
How to secure a job in tech without a degree/ computer related degree

A THREAD:
1. Disclaimer: I’m only talking about my experience on getting into the tech industry & wishing what I knew before now. There’s hardly any females and black females at that.

& I just want everyone to win 🥺💰
2. Ok first things first is roles. There’s actually sooooo many different roles .
From being a software analyst (myself), developer, performance tester , robotics to cyber security the list goes on !

So it’s good to research as many options !
4. Requirements!

Depending on the role you may need to have an understanding in the specific coding languages / systems and skills .
Not to worry there are many places you can learn 👇🏾
5.Learn tech based skills/ coding for free !:

Open university free courses:

Coursera

Khan Academy
Udemy

Codecademy

(Cont) pluralsite & http://Lynda.com

On completion most of these give you a certification that you can use to add to your technical cv & show employers
7. APPRENTICESHIPS
I was working in a big law firm and was working along side people who were on apprenticeships 👀 .
- With just GCSE’s

Here are some examples of going through this route : https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/software-tester/
8. Building your portfolio :

Once you gain some qualifications/ certifications start to offer your services for free to upcoming companies. This will show employers that you’re not only keen but add to your portfolio and work on your skills.
9. YOUR NETWORK IS YOUR NETWORTH. Go to tech events and meeting other people in the industry. It will help along the way !
Who knows ,you might meet someone who has a job vacancy 🤷🏾‍♀️
10. Last thing to note that this isn’t for everyone!
I won’t lie to you and say it’s easy but putting the work in is rewarding.

Technology is one of the highest paying sectors (just saying) xxx
I’ll leave a list of organisations/ YT videos & blogs that will help you out!
