Detroit is the largest Black majority city in the country. The health disparities are very evident in the cases in Detroit. The city only represents 10% of the state of Michigan but represent 26% of the cases in the state. #covidinourcommunities
All of the preexisting health conditions in the Black community mean that members of the community are disproportionately impacted by #COVID19 #covidinourcommunities
A lot of the disparity is rooted in the story of comeback that is being promoted about Detroit. This resulted in policies that have had impact on the ability to prepare for the virus. One such policy was the mass water shut offs. #covid19 #covidinourcommunities
Also, there were residents in Detroit who did not have water through February.
