I’m so tired of “behavioral issues” being synonymous w/ autism.

Behavioral issues AREN’T inherent to autism.

They’re the result of not having a supportive enough environment.

Autistic people aren’t the problem. Their environment is.

I’m sick of the bulk of early intervention being nothing more than teaching autistic children how to quietly bear their lack of proper support and understanding for the convenience of others.

I’m sick of parents who think preparing and teaching their children to endure a lifetime of ableism is somehow setting their children up for success.

#AutismAwareness
If the countless amount of time and resources put into early intervention, were put into advocacy that actually benefit autistic people rather than those who seek to profit off families of autistic children, we’d actually be somewhere by now.

Who actually benefits from #LightItUpBlue?

Autistic people and their families aren’t being helped or supported in any tangible way.

#AutismAwarenessMonth is nothing more than a fundraising and marketing campaign for @autismspeaks and service providers.

#AutismAcceptance
It is in the financial interest of the autism industry, not autistic people, that autism is view pathologically & negatively so that children are diagnosed as early as possible and parents are scared into putting their young children into 20-40 hrs of therapy a week to save them
Before anyone say they are preparing their autistic child for the real world by teaching them the “skill” of outwardly/superficially functioning as though they were not autistic...

As a black person I was made aware of the realities of racism, but I was never taught to accept it
