In the face of the COVID-19 crisis, members of NEW INC—our cultural incubator—have been turning their creativity and resourcefulness into acts of generosity supporting the medical workers on the front line who are working so hard to fight the pandemic. (thread)

Across the community, members are using their 3D printers and laser cutters to produce face shields; using their business connections to source masks, gloves, and suits; and developing new online systems for mapping and coordinating volunteer networks.

Many of these projects are being undertaken collaboratively—pooling resources, time, and access, including New Museum's donation to @mask_crusaders.

NEW INC member Xin Liu has been working with #NYCPPE and #N95forNYC, where she is in charge of small batch distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical workers on the front line.

Xin Liu’s team has delivered 1000+ KN95, N95 masks, and 700 surgical masks to 132 frontline individuals. She is managing a team of forty-one volunteers including NEW INC members Gershon Dublon, Sarah Rothberg, AJ Levine, and others. Bravo to all

NEW INC member Studio Elsewhere has converted the 3,000-square-foot Abilities Research Center at Mount Sinai East into a Frontline Relief Center for workers on COVID-19 wards.

These interactive recharge rooms are outfitted with showers, bathrooms, and areas to rest. The centers include nutritious snacks and beverages as well as daily meal delivery, employing local chefs and restaurant workers directly impacted by COVID-19 economic loss.

This project is being lead by Mirelle Phillips along with @NEWINC mentor Jacob Marshall and members Stefani Bardin, Nikita Huggins, Kate Machtiger, and Skylar Jessen. Thank you for your hard work!
