So why is Trump talking about this?

BECAUSE THE GOVERNORS FAILED TO DO THEIR JOB.

States are supposed to have THEIR OWN stockpiles of medical equipment.

Not only did the governors fail, they're STILL failing.
Despite being told over and over how to use private laboratories for testing, the governors haven't done so.

Yesterday, @VP and Dr. Birx said that about 20 percent of the Roche system and 75 percent of the Abbott system aren't being used.
We could DOUBLE the number of test results if governors came out of their intellectual comas.

This is where ideology comes in.

Democrat governors want a completely centralized national government--WHEN THEY NEED TO BE BAILED OUT.
So Trump is reminding them that centralization comes with a cost.

The lying New Yorker who claimed he had COVID-19 but Trump was preventing him from being tested said that the feds SHOULD provide everything.
"It's too inefficient to leave it up to the states," he said.

Think about that.

Democrats want massive federal stockpiles of EVERYTHING that will be distributed in an emergency.

Think of the logistics alone.

It would be a nightmare.
What Democratic governors want is for Trump to build up and maintain stockpiles IN THEIR STATES, and then THEY don't have to pay for them or inventory them or maintain them.
So Trump is reminding everybody--as he said yesterday--that if they are going to ignore their responsibilities as states, it means they have to sacrifice something.

It was another trap that will allow Trump to expose the total failures of the governors if he wants.
He actually said that yesterday.

"I can tell you which governors did a bad job. Maybe I will."

And there's something else.

Pelosi is AGAIN holding up aid to the American people.
Congress can vote to prevent Trump from telling the states when they can reopen.

But that means they have to be in session. Right now they're not.

Also they need two-thirds of each chamber. They won't get it, but Trump is clearly using this to light a fire under Nancy.
Trump declared a national emergency in regard to our southern border.

Doing so allowed the Secretary of Defense to shift funds over to building the wall.
"In the event of a declaration of war or the declaration by the President of a national emergency in accordance with the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.) that requires use of the armed forces, the Secretary of Defense..."
"...without regard to any other provision of law, may undertake military construction projects, and may authorize the Secretaries of the military departments to undertake military construction projects..."
"...not otherwise authorized by law that are necessary to support such use of the armed forces."
NOBODY KNOWS THIS.

All the reporting says that TRUMP is doing this.

AND HE DELIBERATELY MADE EVERYONE THINK HE WAS THE ONE MAKING THE DECISION.
Trump took office knowing every single law of the land.

When he invokes his powers, he DISTRACTS so that all the two-watt chicken brains can't see what's happening and therefore can't sabotage it.
Remember how leftists were demanding that Trump implement the Defense Production Act across the board?

It's because THEY WANT THAT PRECEDENT SET.

Remember: Trump keeps telling us that he won't have to tell the states when to open.
They have no leverage, and if they push Trump, he'll just have another press conference in which he names names.

All is well.

And Democrats are being remind of that ancient saying:
"Beware what you wish for, because you just might get it."

They wanted a centralized government.

And now they're learning that they really don't.
