One of the most absurd videos on YouTube has to be the "minimalist" apartment tour by the like-named The Minimalists. I thought I'd take a moment to fully catalog this apartment.
Let's start in the kitchen. $140 coffee grinder and $70 electric kettle. Not bad at all. It gets better fast.
Here's the down-to-earth guest room, featuring a $2,300 Peloton and a $1,100 Poul Henningsen lamp.
The simple coat rack that greets you in their entry is a $300 Eames piece.
These bookcases are $345 apiece, about $700 for the pair.
In the living room, the floor lamp is $1000.

The desk chair is Emeco, $1300.

The recliner is the famous Eames lounge. $7000.

I don't recognize the couch.
In this shot, the narrator says, "I am complete in an empty room."

The media cabinet he's walking past is DWR, $1500.
Back to the work area, in addition to the chair:

Lamp: Tolomeo, $330.

Clock: George Nelson, $400.

I don't recognize the desk.
Bedroom.
Chair: Eames molded plywood loung chair, $1,100

Bench: George Nelson, at least $1,500.
Table: Case, $1000

Chairs: FOUR $575 Emeco Navy chairs. $2,300 for outdoor seating.
I also don't recognize the dining set. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess it was expensive.
So of just what I spotted and recognized, this is $22,000 of designer furniture, not including almost all the essentials like:

Dining set
Beds
Couch
The pieces are all beautiful, and I don't mind someone showing off their swank apartment. But call it a designer apartment tour, a tasteful sort of conspicuous consumption.

Don't pretend this is minimalism.
If you care to watch the full thing by @TheMinimalists, go for it. It's quality QVC for the DWR crowd.
