The legacy of the Mike Harris government's massive privatization efforts are profoundly felt to this day. The privatizing of long term care homes left them understaffed, & left PSWs underemployed (part time) & underpaid. We are seeing the impacts of that during #COVID19 pandemic.

What can we do about it? 1) Bring long term care homes back into public ownership. 2) Unionize PSWs and make them an essential service (like nurses). 3) Limit the ratio of PSWs to residents. PSWs deserve full-time permanent positions with better pay and benefits. #ONpoli #COVID19

In the short term the PC government must: 1) Provide immediate financial support to PSWs & other care home workers. 2) Limit PSWs to only one facility. 3) Provide adequate PPE to care home workers. These steps will reduce the spread of #COVID19 amongst our vulnerable seniors.

Update, we must also IMMEDIATELY halt PSWs who tested positive for #COVID19 but are asymptomatic from returning to work for a minimum of 14 days, given what we know of the virus' transmission. https://twitter.com/Travisdhanraj/status/1250216667218677761?s=19
