I’ve noticed across my social media that people are saying they’re having trouble motivating themselves to do work. First of all, acknowledge that the shift is okay and can be attributed to several different factors that have disrupted your normal schedule. (1/?)
Here are some tips I use to work and stay motivated. First, I trick myself into starting with work I enjoy. For me that’s anything related to research. So I work on those tasks first and by the time I complete them, I’m typically ready to do another, unrelated task. (2/?)
Another trick I use is to forget about sitting down and writing something perfect. A lot of our assignments in this online learning world are writing intensive. The task is going to seem daunting until you start. Sit down and write something, anything. (3/?)
It’s so much easier to edit something than it is to start from scratch. (4/?)
My final tip is to be realistic with your time. You didn’t sit and do work for 8 hours before. You commuted, talked to friends, stopped for meals, walked to the library, etc. Take it one hour at a time and see what you can get done. Stay healthy and take care of yourself! (5/5)
