Dr.Nazla Rafeeq from HPA says that estimated projections have been done regarding a case of a community spread in the Maldives. She says that in case of a community spread, 46,000 plus people is projected to be infected in Malè area.

Dr.Nazla: If there isn’t any containment efforts, in the 35th day only 2500 new people will be infected with the virus. Within 47 days, it is projected to reach a peak if containment efforts are not taken.

Dr.Nazla: If containment efforts are undertaken and followed, the peak day would have only 2000 new cases. This isn’t a small number by itself, but shows that curve could be flattened with containment measures.

Dr.Nazla: We have undertaken various efforts since the beginning of the crisis towards containment. On the peak day without any containment, 1300 people will have to be admitted. If containment is done, it would be 300 people admitted in peak day.

Dr.Nazla: We estimate that 300 people will have to be treated at ICU during the peak day if containment is not done. This could be reduced to a 100 if containment is done

Mabrouq: Two Maldivians under treatment has recovered today. As of 09:00 today, 2899 samples has been tested with results of 183 samples pending. 11 people at isolation facilities and 962 people are at quarantine facilities.

Mabrouq: 5 Kidney patients who came from India was transferred to a special area in IGMH. 9 people were released today from quarantine facilities. 340 samples has been taken from Kuredu till now, it has not come to the lab yet.

Mabrouq: Grand Park Kodhipparu Resort has been removed from monitoring status. 1312 people have registered at Job Center.

Mabrouq: Scam calls in the name of BML and Big Companies has increased these days as per police.

Mabrouq: We have request Qatar Airways to delay the Flight coming to the Maldives on 21st to 23rd, in order to accommodate those coming via the flight at quarantine facilities.

Mabrouq: Most Civil Servants are working from home, only essential workers will be working from home. Health workers are doing key word at frontline. OT will be received for their work and a policy is being formulated to grant them special allowances as well.
