I thought that, in this craziness, knitters might be seeking projects that aren& #39;t too big, not too involved yet not boring, knittable from stash, with easy and fast finishing, and just generally FUN to knit. So here& #39;s a thread of patterns I think tick those boxes - add your own!
Of course a few of these suggestions will be my own patterns. :) This toque takes about one ball of 50g of DK weight in each colour (although somewhat more is needed for the main colour if you do the large size). https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lavagna">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
This scarf is soothingly basic, yet the end product is so fun. And it& #39;s really flexible, you can use pretty much any yarn weight you want and use any number of colours, so it can be a great stashbuster, too. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/latifa">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
This was an absolutely delicious knit to make - I flew through it and could have happily done another one. If you& #39;ve got two different-colour 100g skeins of worsted weight in your stash, you& #39;re good to go. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jimi-shawlette">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
If double knitting is your thing, this is a nice time-passer. You& #39;ll need about 155 yards of each of two colours of DK weight yarn. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jianzhi">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
Here& #39;s a free pattern which is short and sweet and holds your interest - mine took me 123 yards of the main colour and 80 yards of the contrast colour. Fingering weight. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winter-forest-cowl-2">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
Depending on your yarn hoard, this might not be stash-knittable, but it does tick the other boxes. It takes two colours of worsted weight yarn - in the neighbourhood of 550 to 750 yards of each colour, based on your size choice. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/corbichon">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
These fingerless mittens whip up fast and are super-pretty. You& #39;ll need 120-200 yards of fingering weight. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/regina-marie-mitts">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
This tam takes worsted weight yarn - you& #39;ll need a 100g skein of the main colour and a 50g skein of the contrast colour. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beaulieu">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
You wouldn& #39;t think a cardigan would be a "not too big" project, but I& #39;ve done two of these and they flew off the needles with NO SEAMING. If you& #39;ve got 730-1530 yards of fingering weight in your stash, it& #39;s a lot of fun. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hitofude-cardigan">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
My oldest daughter loves the hat I made from this pattern. I only needed about 110 yards of worsted weight cotton to pull it off. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sneaky-snakes">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
I really enjoyed watching the lace pattern on this tam take shape. Mine used about 212 yards of fingering weight yarn. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wasabi-hat">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
Another of my patterns, this one is free! You& #39;ll need three colours of fingering weight yarn, about 25-30g each, it& #39;s a great stashbuster for leftover sock yarn. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/round-the-blend">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
This lace shawl pattern is the very definition of fun, gobble-it-up knitting. It calls for 500yds of DK weight, but because it& #39;s knit outwards, if you don& #39;t have quite enough, you can reduce the length of the edging. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wavedeck">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/...
